Interpretation guide

ScoreReading
85–100Excellent Vastu alignment
65–84Good — minor adjustments only
40–64Mixed — apply non-structural remedies
Below 40Significant doshas — consult a practitioner

Formula & methodology

Formula: Score = min(100, direction-score × 6 + 40·[room matches direction]) − 15·[plot ratio outside 0.9–2]

  1. Choose the room, its direction, and your plot dimensions.
  2. The direction’s intrinsic zone strength is scored, then a 40-point bonus applies if the room belongs in that zone.
  3. Plot proportion outside the 0.9–2 range deducts 15 points.
  4. The total is capped at 100 and graded.

Worked example: an East-facing entrance on a 40×30 ft plot scores 94/100 — favourable placement (✔), strong zone, and a healthy 1.33 plot ratio with no shape deduction.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good Vastu score?
85+ is excellent and needs nothing; 65–84 is good with minor tweaks. Below 65, prioritise the flagged factors — usually the room-direction mismatch costs the most points.
How is the score calculated?
Three parts: the chosen direction’s intrinsic strength (up to 60), a 40-point bonus when the room suits that direction, and a 15-point deduction for badly proportioned plots. Capped at 100.
Can I score each room of my house?
Yes — run the calculator once per room (entrance, kitchen, bedroom, pooja, office, toilet) and average the results for a whole-home picture. The entrance and kitchen carry the most practical weight.
Does a low score mean I should move?
No. Most deductions respond to non-structural remedies — function swaps, zone-correct usage, door discipline, light and mirror adjustments. A consultant can usually lift a 50s score into the 70s without construction.
Why does plot shape affect the score?
Vastu zones assume a roughly square footprint; a ratio beyond 2:1 stretches zones until functions drift into wrong elements. The calculator deducts 15 points for ratios outside 0.9–2.
