What is the navamsa chart?
The ninth divisional chart (D9): every sign is split into nine 3°20′ parts and each part is itself assigned a sign. It is the most-used varga after the birth chart — read for marriage, the spouse, dharma and the “ripened” strength a planet shows in the second half of life.
Why is D9 called the fruit of the chart?
Tradition reads D1 as the tree and D9 as the fruit: a planet’s navamsa placement shows how its promises actually deliver. A planet weak in the birth chart but exalted in navamsa recovers; strong in both (especially vargottama — same sign in D1 and D9) is excellent.
How precise must my birth time be for D9?
More precise than for the birth chart: the navamsa lagna changes every ~13 minutes (one-ninth of the ~2-hour lagna). A 15-minute error can shift the D9 ascendant a sign, so treat navamsa-lagna readings cautiously unless the time is well recorded.
