Formula: Saka year = CE − 78 (from ≈22 March); before the Chaitra new year, CE − 79

How do I convert a Saka year to CE?
Add 78 for the part of the Saka year from late March to December, or 79 for January–March. Saka 1948 spans 22 March 2026 to 21 March 2027 CE. Going the other way, subtract 78 after the new year and 79 before it.
Where is Saka Samvat actually used?
