Formula: Naming syllable = fixed sound of the janma nakshatra’s pada (108 syllables across 27 × 4 padas)

  2. The calculator computes the sidereal Moon for janma nakshatra and pada, plus lagna, rashi and tithi.

When is the namkaran ceremony held?
Classically on the 11th or 12th day after birth, though many families choose any auspicious day within the first months. The muhurat avoids Rahu Kaal, Bhadra and the baby’s mool-nakshatra overlaps; this site’s Namkaran Muhurat tool checks a candidate date.
Do we have to use the nakshatra syllable for the official name?

What if the baby is born in a mool nakshatra?
