Formula & methodology

Formula: Score = Dig Bala (60/30/15 by quadrant) + Sthana Bala (60 × proximity to exaltation) + natural bonus

  1. Enter birth date, time and place.
  2. Sidereal positions and houses from the ascendant are computed.
  3. Each planet scores Dig Bala by house quadrant, Sthana Bala by closeness to its exaltation degree, plus a natural-strength bonus.
  4. Planets are ranked; the strongest graha heads the result.

Worked example — 1 Jan 1990, 06:00, Delhi: Mars leads at 106 pts, followed by Jupiter 102 and Moon 100, with Mercury weakest at 49 — a Mars-dominant chart consistent with its Vrishchika lagna.

Frequently asked questions

What is Shadbala?
The classical six-fold strength system (Sthana, Dig, Kaala, Cheshta, Naisargika and Drik Bala) that quantifies how capable each planet is of delivering its results. Higher total = more reliable significator.
Is this the complete six-fold Shadbala?
It is a transparent three-component estimate (positional + directional + natural). Time-based, motional and aspectual balas need full ephemeris software; the ranking here closely tracks full Shadbala for most charts and says so on the result.
What is Dig Bala?
Directional strength: Jupiter/Mercury are strongest in the 1st house, Sun/Mars in the 10th, Saturn in the 7th, Moon/Venus in the 4th. The calculator awards quadrant-based points toward this.
How do I use the strongest planet?
Favour its significations and dashas: a strongest Mars supports engineering, sport, surgery, real estate; its mahadasha periods tend to be productive. The houses it rules deliver more reliably.
What about the weakest planet?
Its houses and significations need conscious effort. Tradition offers remedies — mantra, charity on its weekday, gemstone of that planet after advice — to shore up a weak graha.
