Formula & methodology

Formula: Gochar position = current sidereal longitude (tropical − Lahiri ayanamsa) mapped to rashi

  1. Open the tool — it uses the current date and time automatically.
  2. Tropical longitudes are computed (Meeus Sun/Moon, Standish planets) and converted to sidereal with Lahiri ayanamsa.
  3. Rahu is the mean lunar node; Ketu is exactly opposite.
  4. Each graha’s rashi and degree are listed — compare against your Moon sign for gochar effects.

Worked example — 10 Jun 2026: Sun Vrishabha 25.2°, Moon Meena 18.8°, Mars Mesha 22.0°, Jupiter Karka 1.3° (newly exalted), Saturn Meena 18.5°, Rahu Kumbha 9.5° — matching drik ephemeris values.

Frequently asked questions

What is a navgraha transit (gochar)?
The current zodiac position of the nine grahas, as opposed to their fixed birth positions. Transits are read against your natal Moon sign — Jupiter’s transit sign from the Moon, Saturn’s for Sade Sati, and so on.
Which planets matter most in transit?
Slow movers shape the longer themes: Saturn (~2.5 yr/sign), Jupiter (~1 yr) and the Rahu-Ketu axis (~18 months). Fast planets like the Moon (2.25 days) colour the day-to-day.
Are these positions sidereal or tropical?
Sidereal with Lahiri ayanamsa, the Indian standard — so the signs here match Vedic ephemerides, which run about 24° behind Western tropical positions.
Why is Jupiter in Karka significant in 2026?
Karka (Cancer) is Jupiter’s exaltation sign. Its entry there in mid-2026 begins a year traditionally read as strongly supportive for Karka, Vrishchika and Meena Moon signs.
How accurate are the positions?
Sun/Moon to under 0.02°, planets to a few tenths of a degree, Rahu as the mean node — more than enough to fix the sign and the gochar reading reliably.
