Formula: Elapsed = calendar difference of the two dates in years, months, days; totals counted in exact days including leap days

  1. Pick the date your relationship started — first date, becoming official, or the wedding day, whichever you count from.
  2. Leave the end date empty for today, or set one to measure to a specific day.
  3. The tool counts full calendar years and months first (so anniversaries land on the same date every year), then the leftover days.
  4. Totals in days, weeks and hours are exact, including leap days like 29 Feb 2024.

Worked example: together since 10 Jun 2020, checked on 10 Jun 2026 → exactly 6 years, which is 2,191 days (one leap day included) or 52,584 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How is relationship length calculated?
As a calendar difference: full years first, then full months, then leftover days. That keeps your anniversary on the same calendar date instead of drifting with 30-day approximations.
What date should we count from?
Whatever you both consider the start — most couples use the day they became official, others the first date or wedding day. The math is identical; just be consistent year to year.
Does the calculator handle leap years?
Yes. Day totals are exact day counts, so 29 February is included whenever your span crosses one — six years from June 2020 is 2,191 days, not 2,190.
How many days is 1 year together?
365 days, or 366 if the span crosses a leap day. The 1,000-day milestone — about 2 years and 9 months — is a popular one to celebrate.
Can I calculate how long we were together in the past?
Yes — set both the start and end dates and the tool measures that closed interval, useful for anniversaries of past relationships or long-distance phases.
How do I calculate our exact marriage anniversary milestones?
Enter the wedding date and the calculator returns elapsed years, months, and days plus the next anniversary. Milestone names follow the traditional list — 1st paper, 5th wood, 10th tin, 25th silver, 50th gold. A couple married June 15, 2015 hits their silver anniversary on June 15, 2040.
Can it count down to a wedding date as well?
