apps Small jobs, done in one click

Everyday calculators are the workshop drawer of the site — quick utilities for the moments when you need a number now and a phone calculator won't cut it. Age, date difference, GPA, fuel cost, time-to-decimal, password strength — pick a tool and you're one click from your answer.

speed Loads in under a second

Every tool is plain HTML + JavaScript with the calculation logic compiled in. No spinner, no "verifying browser" splash, no five-second wait while ads load. Hit the page, fill the form, get the answer. Slow tools waste your time and ours.

devices Works on every device

Responsive design tested down to a 320px-wide phone screen. The input fields use native number/date keyboards on iOS and Android, the calculate button is thumb-sized, and the result still reads big and bold on the smallest screen. No app to download, ever.

sentiment_satisfied No funny business

No newsletter pop-ups, no "create an account to see the answer", no fake countdown, no fake stock counter, no upsell. Two ad slots per page (clearly labelled as Advertisement) keep the site free — that's the whole business model.

Formula & methodology

Formula: Roof area = footprint area × √(1 + (rise/12)²); squares = area / 100

A sloped roof covers more area than its flat footprint. The pitch multiplier scales the footprint up to the true roof surface.

  1. Footprint area = length × width.
  2. Pitch multiplier = √(1 + (rise/12)²).
  3. Roof area = footprint area × multiplier.
  4. Squares = roof area ÷ 100; bundles = squares × 3 (plus 10% waste).

Worked example: A 40 × 30 ft footprint at 6/12 pitch is 1,200 × 1.118 = 1,342 ft³ = 13.4 squares.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate roof area?
Multiply the footprint (length × width) by the pitch multiplier √(1 + (rise/12)²) to account for the slope.
What is a roofing square?
A roofing square is 100 square feet of roof surface. Roofers order materials by the square.
How many shingle bundles per square?
Three bundles cover one square (100 sq ft) for standard architectural shingles.
How much waste should I add?
Add 10% for simple gable roofs and up to 15% for complex roofs with many hips, valleys and cuts.
What does pitch 6/12 mean?
The roof rises 6 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run — a moderate, common slope.
