mosque Calculated to Shariah-compliant formulas

Every Islamic calculator on CalcaTools uses formulas from recognised Shariah authorities — the Hilal Committee's Hijri conversion tables, the MWL/ISNA/Umm al-Qura prayer-time methods, the four-school consensus for Zakat Nisab, and the Faraid distribution rules from classical fiqh. The exact authority is cited on every tool page.

menu_book Sunni & Shia rules side by side

For tools where the calculation differs between schools (Faraid inheritance, certain Zakat triggers, prayer-time conventions), we surface the choice as a selector and document the difference in the methodology block. Pick the school that matches your tradition — the answer adjusts.

savings Zakat with the live Nisab

Zakat tools fetch the current spot gold/silver price (or let you enter your local rate) so the Nisab threshold reflects today's value, not a stale figure from last year. The 2.5% rate is the standard hawl-based calculation; agricultural Zakat (1/10 or 1/20) is available on the dedicated Ushr calculator.

verified For guidance, not a fatwa

These calculators give you the number — they do not give a fatwa. For complex personal situations (inheritance with revoked rights, mixed-asset Zakat, late prayer makeup rules), please confirm with a qualified scholar in your tradition. We're here to help with the arithmetic, not to replace your local imam.

Formula & methodology

Formula: Total = flights×season + rooms×nights×season + visa + ground + spending, × pilgrims

  1. Choose origin country, hotel tier, trip length, season and pilgrim count.
  2. Flights are priced by origin and multiplied by the season factor; hotels by tier × nights (twin sharing).
  3. Saudi e-visa, ground transport/meals and spending money complete the total.

Worked example: 1 UK pilgrim, 10 days standard 4-star, off-peak → ≈ $2,770 ($700 flights + $1,350 hotel + $120 visa + $300 ground + $300 spending). The same trip in late Ramadan roughly doubles.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Umrah cost?
Off-peak from the UK: roughly $1,800 economy to $4,500 premium for 10 days; from the US add ~$600–1,000 of airfare. Ramadan multiplies hotel prices 2× or more — the calculator prices your exact combination.
How much is the Umrah visa?
The Saudi e-visa runs ~SAR 450–490 (≈ $120–130) including insurance, valid 90 days. GCC residents and many visa-on-arrival nationalities have cheaper routes; package operators often bundle it.
When is Umrah cheapest?
Outside Ramadan, Hajj season and school holidays — typically the Muharram–Sha’ban window and the weeks after Hajj. Off-peak hotel rates are commonly half of Ramadan’s last-ten-nights pricing.
Package vs DIY — which is cheaper?
DIY (own flights + hotel + e-visa) usually saves 15–30% off-peak for experienced travellers; packages add value in Ramadan when hotel allocation is scarce. This calculator models the DIY stack.
How many days do I need for Umrah?
The rites take a few hours; trips run 7–14 days to include Madinah ziyarah and unhurried worship. Ten days (7 Makkah + 3 Madinah) is the most common itinerary — the default here.
