functions Shows the working, not just the answer

For students and teachers, the final number is only half the value. Every math tool here exposes the formula it applied, the intermediate steps, and the rounding rule, so you can follow along, check your homework, or use the answer in a proof or report with confidence.

calculate Accurate to the spec

Calculations use 64-bit floating point with sensible rounding for the domain (currency to 2 decimals, percentages to 4 decimals, algebra to 6 significant figures). Where exact rational arithmetic matters — fractions, factorials, simplification — we use a dedicated BigNumber path so 1/3 + 1/6 returns ½, not 0.49999.

Formula & methodology

Formula: weeks = months × (365.25 ÷ 12) ÷ 7 = months × 4.348

  1. Enter the number of months (decimals allowed).
  2. Months convert to days via the average month: 365.25 ÷ 12 = 30.44 days.
  3. Days ÷ 7 gives weeks.
  4. For a specific calendar span, count between real dates instead.

Example: 3 months × 30.44 = 91.3 days ÷ 7 = 13.05 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

How many weeks are in a month?
On average 4.348 (30.44 days ÷ 7) — not 4. Only February in a non-leap year is exactly 4 weeks.
How many weeks is 3 months?
About 13 weeks (13.05) — a calendar quarter.
Why not just multiply months by 4?
You lose 2–3 days per month; over 9 months the ×4 shortcut is off by nearly a month.
How many weeks is 9 months of pregnancy?
Clinically pregnancy is 40 weeks from the last period — closer to 9.2 calendar months. 9 calendar months alone is 39.1 weeks.
How many weeks are in a year?
52.18 (365.25 ÷ 7) — which is why dates drift one weekday per year and two after a leap year.
