monitor_weight A starting point, not a diagnosis

This calculator gives you the same number a clinician would compute by hand from your inputs. It is informational, never a substitute for a doctor. If a result surprises you, write it down and discuss it at your next appointment — that conversation is the goal, not a verdict from a webpage.

science Built from peer-reviewed formulas

Every health calculator on CalcaTools uses an equation from the WHO, NIH, ACOG, CDC, or a published peer-reviewed paper. The exact citation is in the "Formula & methodology" section. We re-check sources quarterly and update the page when guidance changes — the "Last reviewed" date is at the top.

volunteer_activism Designed for real people

Health calculations only help if you can actually use them. We use plain-English labels (no jargon), accept both metric and US units, and show what a "normal" range looks like alongside your result — so you understand what the number means, not just what it is.

lock Private by design

Your weight, height, age, pregnancy details, and any other health input never leave your browser. Calculations run client-side; nothing is logged or stored on our side. We don't want your medical data — we just want the formula to work for you.

Interpretation guide

Pace concepts:

TermMeaning
PaceTime to cover one mile or km
SpeedDistance per hour (mph or km/h)
SplitsTime for each segment of a race
Even / negative splitSame or faster second half

Formula & methodology

Formula: Pace = Time / Distance; Speed = Distance / Time; Finish time = Pace x Distance

Pace is simply elapsed time divided by distance, expressed as minutes per mile or kilometer. The calculator converts freely among pace, speed, finish time, and distance so you can plan race goals or training runs. Enter any two values to solve for the third — for example a target marathon time to find the pace you need to hold.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate running pace?
Divide your total time by the distance. For 27:30 over 5K that's about 8:51 per mile. Enter time and distance above.
What pace do I need for a sub-2-hour half marathon?
Roughly 9:09 per mile (5:41 per km). Enter the target finish time to get the exact pace.
How do I convert pace to mph?
mph = 60 / pace-in-minutes-per-mile. A 10:00 mile equals 6.0 mph.
What is a negative split?
Running the second half of a race faster than the first. It's a common strategy for strong, even-effort finishes.
How do I use pace for training?
Set easy, tempo, and interval paces relative to race pace, then use the calculator to find segment times for your workouts.
